JANUARY 22nd, 2010 marked seven years of war protest on the Marietta Square

 7th Year Anniversary Rally

In January of 2003, during the build-up of the Iraq invasion, several concerned Cobb County Citizens decided to gather every Friday from 12-1pm in front of the courthouse on the Marietta Square to demonstrate against the war. This gathering became Citizens for Peace, Cobb County (CFP).

Over the years CFP has grown and shrunk, sponsored events big and small. One thing has remained constant. We’ve never stopped claiming that corner on Fridays from noon to 1pm. Blazing heat and numbing cold have not kept us from having a presence. We will not take a break till these wars are ended.

January 22nd, 2010, from 12-1pm on the corner of S.park Square & E.park Square, we marked 7 years of consecutive weekly demonstrations against war.

After the demonstration, we gathered for lunch and discussion at North Park Bistro,105 North Park Square, Marietta, GA.

Representatives from the Georgia Peace & Justice Coalition were present and gave an update on the state of the anti-war movement in Georgia.
